I Heard about another Texan
I love America! This is my homeland. I listen to Glenn Beck and have gained a deeper appreciation for the Americans that matter. Glenn has developed a relationship with a Navy Seal named Marcus Luttrel. Marcus has written a book called Lone Survivor after he returned home from Afghanistan, as the only survivor of a fierce battle in the mountains of Afghanistan. But this post is not about the book or the fact that LPO Luttrel has been given the Navy Cross for combat heroism. You can go and check it out here: Navy Seal
This post s about the story that Glenn Beck related about Marcus Luttrel this last week on the radio program. The account from Glenn was that he and Marcus were walking in New York City recently to a lunch meeting. Marcus and Glenn both saw a man ahead of them grab a woman’s purse and begin to run along the sidewalk toward Marcus and Glenn. Marcus told Glenn not to look ar him, don’t dare look. Glenn was thinking” Marcus, you are a Navy Seal! Why aren’t you going to take care of this?” Right at that moment the thief ran by Glenn and Marcus… all six foot five inches of the Seal Team trained Texan clotheslined the ill-fated thief, took the purse and returned into the grateful woman. The only remark that Officer Luttrel made to her was, “We are not all like than man is , maam.” He then related to Glenn that he demanded that they not make eye contact with the idiot so that he would not change direction and would run close enough by for Marcus to “take care of this.”
Now I know that the thieves are not well educated enough to read blogs. But since I am writing about the streets of America, and more to those that love her as much as I do; so I offer this to you. We have returning warriors walking among us now. In plain clothes and in uniform, they are trained to see and sense trouble. They are young enough, strong enough, valiant enough to stand up against these idiots. Just know that they walk among us. In my own neighborhood, I have a personal reputation for getting in the way of others that would do harm. And I will continue to do as I am called to do.
To those that are just as heroic as Marcus Luttrel, I give you due honor and say Thank You for standing at the wall. Matters not to me what uniform you put on: Military, Coast Guard, Police, Fire and Rescue, First Responders… Thank You for keeping America strong.
